KABUL overcame Mongolia 1-0 in their second match of the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup Qualifiers in Laos on Monday.
Divided into five groups, 20 countries are participating in the annual competition, whose winners be qualify for the Asian Football Confederation Cup.
In the first half, neither side could score any goal, but Bilal Arezu found the net for Afghanistan in the 60th minute of the second part of the well-contested game.
On Saturday, Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka 1-0 in the cup opener. The national squad is scheduled to take on Laos, the hosts, on March 6.
Afghanistan coach Yousuf Kargar said the team had elaborately practiced ahead of the event, hoping they would perform well and bring home laurels.
