ACB, PCB to sign MoU on cooperation

ACB, PCB to sign MoU on cooperation

Mar 05, 2013 - 16:38

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Pakistaninfo-icon would technically support Afghan players and arrange trial camps for them under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would be signed soon, officials said on Tuesday.

"The MoU between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board (ACB) is under process and will be formally signed soon," PCB Media General Manager Nadeem Sarwar told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The two sides agreed to sign the MoU at last month's talks in Lahore. Afghan cricket officials on their return said the talks with Pakistani counterparts had gone well.

Sarwar rejected the impression that the PCB seemed to back out of its pledge to sign the deal. "In any case, these reports are without substance," he remarked.

ACB Chief Executive Noorullah Murad, who led the Afghan delegation at the Lahore talks, said PCB chief Zaka Ashraf had agreed to sign the MoU on cooperation.

Under the proposed agreement, he said, Pakistan and Afghanistan would play one-day and twenty20 games in the neighbouring country and the UAE.

Pakistan would provide Afghan players technical support, Murad said, adding that an Afghan team would be allowed to participate in Pakistan's domestic cricket tournaments.

The neighbouring country would also arrange training courses for Afghan umpires, commentators and ground crew, the ACB official concluded.
