KABUL mauled Scotland by seven wickets in the second T20 match to clinch the series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates on Monday night, a board official said on Tuesday.

Scotland won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 139 runs, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News. Calum MacLeod, Matthew Machan and Moneeb Iqbal contributed 31, 39 and 31 runs respectively.

Hamid Hassan ripped through the opposition batting top order, capturing four crucial wickets. Aftab Alam, Samiullah Shinwari and Mohammad Nabi Issakhel took wicket apiece, giving the Scots little room to bat freely.

Shahzad Mohammadi once again shone with the willow with 46 and Karim Sadiq hit a brilliant 36 to hand Afghanistan a well-deserved seven-wicket win, Hotak said. Mohammadi was adjudged the man of the match for the second time in a row.

In the opening encounter at the same venue on Sunday, Mohammadi had scored a superb 55, playing an important role in Afghanistan’s five wickets morale-boosting triumph. Skipper Muhammad Nabi was the pick of Afghan bowlers, capturing two wickets.
