KABUL besides training Afghan National Army (ANA) beyond 2014, the Ministry of Defence said on Wednesday.
Defence Minister Bismillah Mohammadi met his German counterpart, Thomas de Maizière in Kabul, where both sides discussed security, regional issues and the improvement of ANA.
Preparations of Afghan forces for security transition, regional cooperation, counterterrorism and stability in Afghanistan also came under discussion, a statement from the ministry said.
Maizière voiced Germany’s readiness to train ANA soldiers and continue supporting the 209th Shaheen Military Corps, Balk Engineering College and Logistics College in Kabul.
He also promised support for the University of Defence and special training for high-ranking military officials beyond 2014.
Mohammadi asserted the improved capacity of Afghan security personnel, saying they could ensure the country’s defence independently.
