LASHKARGAH (PANinfo-icon): The Mayor on Wednesday said his department had completed reconstructioninfo-icon projects, costing $1.5 million, in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAIDinfo-icon)-funded schemes included roads, footpaths, drains and small bridges, Mohammad Fazil Safi, told Pajhwok Afghan News in Baton area, where the projects were executed.

He said a road measuring 17 kilometers had been paved along with a 19km drainage system that has 60 small bridges. The projects took four months to complete, said the mayor, who hoped the plans would decrease problems earlier faced by the dwellers.
