JALALABAD (PAN): Residents on Monday alleged a joint Afghan-international security force raided residential homes overnight, injuring three inmates and taking away nine others in Chaparhar district of eastern Nangarhar province.
Dr. Mohammad Karim Safi, a resident of the Terilay village, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the joint forces first besieged his neighbour’s home Sunday night at around 11:00pm and then stormed his home.
They started firing soon after entering his home, injuring his two brothers and a third family member, said Safi, who denied any links with the Taliban.
He said his wounded family members were taken away by the raiding troops and that it was beyond his understanding that why the troops opened fire before conducting any search.
Police spokesman Maj. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqwal confirmed the joint operation, saying a dozen suspected men were arrested and an AK-47 rifle was recovered from them. The detainees are currently being interrogated, he added.
International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) media office expressed its unawareness about the incident.
