KABUL, to serve as the Attorney General (AG), a reliable source confided to Pajhwok Afghan News on Wednesday.
Privy to a meeting that took place at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday under President Karzai chairmanship, the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Karzai first recommended that Lodin, a leader of the Hezbi Islami non-violent political wing, should replace Manawi as the election commission chief, an offer rejected by Lodin, who later agreed to the post of Attorney General.
Manawi was recommended by Karzai to replace the incumbent chief justice Abdul Salam Azimi. “A decision from Karzai on his recommendations would follow soon,” the source said, insisting nothing has formally been decided as yet.
