JALALABAD/LASHKARGAH (PAN): Five peoples suffered casualties in a clash between insurgents and border police in the Lalpura district of eastern Nangarhar province, official said on Sunday.
A notorious Pakistani insurgent, Khalid, was killed along with two of his associates in the overnight clash in Seori area, border police spokesman Idris Momand told Pajhwok Afghan News.
One border policeman was killed and another wounded in the firefight, which left two fighters wounded.
But another border police official said on condition of anonymity that one policeman was killed and four others were wounded.
In another incident, one policeman was killed and another wounded in the Garmser district of southern Helmand province, said the town’s administrator chief, Ayub Umar Umari.
But a Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, claimed that two policemen were killed and their weapons seized by the fighters as a result of the ambush.
