KUNDUZ (PAN Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) over violations of females’ rights, the body of a woman was found in the Kishim district of northeastern Badakshan province, an official said on Sunday.
The blanket-draped body was dumped in the Sarai area of the district, AIHRC chief for Badakhshan, Wahidudin Arghawan, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Initial investigations show the woman was divorced and had some children.
Denouncing the murder, Arghawan said the woman had been killed by her brother who had been arrested by police and was under investigation.
The rights watchdog had registered three murder and two rape cases in the province during the current year, the official said.
Bismillah Waziri, the AIHRC head for Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan and Kunduz provinces, said about 84 cases of violence had been registered since the start of 2013. Nine women were killed and eight others molested in the northern zone, he added.
