KABUL): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Tuesday announced the appointment and reshuffle of several department heads, including a woman customs director.

The reshuffle was aimed at eliminating corruption, boosting revenue, utilising staff capacity and improvement of general situation of department, the minister of finance said.

Hazrat Omar Zakhelwal told a press conference that a woman had been appointed as head of the Kabul Customs Department for the first time ever.

The appointments had been made on merit, he insisted. “I will try to resolve people’s problems, especially traders’ problems.”
