JALALABAD (PAN): Pakistani guards on Monday reopened the Torkham border crossing for all Afghan citizens after hours of closures, officials said.

Earlier in the day, the guards shut the Torkham border gate for the Afghans without valid travel documents.

The gate was reopened for all travelers in the afternoon as a result of talks, an Afghan border police officer in the eastern zone, Col. Mohammad Ayub Hassankhel, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A shopkeeper in Torkham, Khaksar, said that a large number of people crossed the border after hours of wait on this side of the frontier.

Thousands of people, including patients, cross the otherwise border on a daily basis. Few of them have passports. In recent months, however, Pakistani authorities have sealed the frontier several times.
