KABUL): The High Committee of Clusters Coordination, headed by Economy Minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, on Tuesday asked the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to make funding for national development programmes a priority.
The call came at a meeting of the committee a day earlier, Arghandiwal’s spokesman Najibullah Amin said.
Apart from Senior Minister Hidayat Amin Arsala, ministers of finance, public works, rural development, agriculture and commerce attended the session.
Wolesi Jirga Secretary Syed Ikram and Advisor to President on Economic Affairs Lal Batija also participated in the meeting conferred on an inter-cluster coordination mechanism.
The Ministry of Economy is ready to implement President Hamid Karzai’s decree No. 45 that stresses concrete action to fight corruption. Issued last year, the decree instructed all government departments to implement necessary reforms within six months.
Amin said meeting participants, thanking the ministry for preparing the mechanism, called for the establishment of a permanent secretariat for the high committee on clusters coordination.
The meeting discussed in detail implementation of economic policies and infrastructural development programmes. It asked the Finance Ministry to prioritise assisting the process.
