ISLAMABAD (PAN’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday — the second such assault in as many days.
The bomber struck Katlang bazaar of Mardan district, which is located around 50 kilometres northeast of Peshawar, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Jaffar Khan told journalists.
After lobbing a hand grenade at a police patrol in the area, the attacker blew himself up as security personnel chased him. One policeman was killed in the blast that left seven people including four civilians wounded.
A day earlier, a dozen people were killed and more than 30 wounded in a suicide attack on a security checkpoint in the high-security Cantonment area of Peshawar. The target was a senior Frontier Constabulary official, who escaped unhurt.
