Haqqani, Taliban leaders nabbed: ISAF

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): A Haqqani networkinfo-icon leader was detained during an operation in the Sabari district of southeastern Khost province on Saturday, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) said.

Blamed for obtaining improvised explosive devices and other weapons and distributing them to multiple militant commanders, the detainee allegedly led a number of fighters in attacks
against Afghan and coalition forces.

A Talibaninfo-icon leader with significant experience in constructing IEDs was arrested along with one other fighter in the Shah Wali Kot district of southern Kandahar province, a statement from the NATOinfo-icon-led force said.

In neighbouring Helmand province, an Afghan and coalition force held several insurgents
during an operation in search of a senior Taliban leader in Nad Ali district. The detainee was allegedly plotting a campaign of sustained military attacks against Afghan and coalition
forces.
