During a visit to central Logar province, the ex-finance minister said some countries, organisations and parties believed Afghanistan would plunge in a crisis after 2014, but they were mistaken.

“Anyone gambling over Afghanistan’s future would be frustrated,” he predicted, saying 34,000 foreign troops had already left the country, but local personnel were successfully maintaining security.

The law and order situation in Logar had remarkably improved due to better coordination among security officials, he added.

Provincial council, Dr. Abdul Wali, said security in the province was getting better with the creation of the local police force.
