Qatar to open embassy in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Qatar would soon establish its embassy in Kabul, a move that would further strengthen its bilateral relations with Afghanistaninfo-icon, the Presidential Palace said on Tuesday.

The decision came during a recent visit of President Hamid Karzai to Qatar for discussing the issue of Talibaninfo-icon’s office in the Gulf country, a statement from the palace said.

Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani supported the Afghan-led peace process and assured Karzai they would support efforts at bringing peace and stability to the country.

Qatari entrepreneurs, who are keenly interested in investing in Afghanistan, will send a delegation to assess the business environmentinfo-icon, Karzai was quoted as saying in the statement.

Karzai also invited the Qatari ruler to visit Afghanistan at his convenience.
