KABUL): Three individuals were convicted on drug-trafficking charges and awarded different jail sentences of by the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) on Tuesday.
Prison sentences of up to 12 years were awarded to the men hailing from Helmand, Balkh and Paktia provinces by the appellant court, a statement from the CJTF said.
Police had detained the traffickers with more than three kilograms of heroin, over 12 kg of opium and 195 kg of hashish.
The accused, having defence attorneys to plead their cases, were convicted after separate judicial trials based on evidence brought before the court and the counter-narcotics law.
More than 600 individuals, including government servants and foreign citizens, were convicted by the court on charges of drug trafficking this past solar year.
