JALALABAD (PAN of a strong reaction if it did not stop construction activities in eastern border areas.

Pakistan had started the construction of gates and other buildings at the zero point along the frontier in Goshta and Lalpura districts, a member of the council said.

Zabihullah Zmarai told a gathering at his office: “The establishment of gates means the recognition of Durand Line.” He accused the provincial government of failing to come up with a matching response.

Meanwhile, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, said they had kept posted the Presidential Palace, interior and foreign ministries and other departments concerned on the issue over the past 12 days.

Governor Gul Agha Sherzai had summoned the Pakistani counsel general and asked him to stop work, but construction activities were still going on, he added.

“Since Afghan security posts are located 35 kilometres from the border, Pakistani forces easily continue work,” said a resident of Goshta district, Khalil Khan.
