Work on power projects launched in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Work on two power distribution projects benefiting for more than 36,000 families was launched in Kabul on Tuesday, officials said.

With the implementation of the first power distribution project, 30,000 families of Dasht-i-Barchi locality would gain access to electricity, said an official of the Afghanistaninfo-icon Brishna Shirkat, Mirwais Alami.

The second project would benefit another 6,000 families in Qara Bagh, Qala Bibi, Qala Qazi, Qala Qara Qul, Kakran, Posta Kachalu, Hazara Baghal, Hisa Awal Kherkhana, Sulaimankhel, Ziarat Khwaja Jam, Haji Akhtar Bagh, Qara Hazaraha, Mirwais Mena and Qala Khandar areas.

Alami said the projects would be executed at a total cost of 66 million afghanis. The semi-government company says 75 percent of the 5.5 million Kabul population has access to electricity.
