KABUL) President Hamid Karzai, heading a high-level delegation, on Tuesday left for Brussels to attend a trilateral meeting with top Pakistani and US officials, his office said.
Discussions would focus on Afghan-Pakistan in Goshta district of Nangarhar province.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said Karzai was accompanied by Foreign Minister Dr. Rassoul, Minister of Defence Gen. Bismillah Mohammadi, National Security Advisor Dr. Spanta, Chief of Staff to President Abdul Karim Khurram and presidential spokesman Aimal Faizi.
A day earlier, Faizi said Afghanistan’s patience with Pakistan was running out on the issue of cooperation with the flagging reconciliation campaign.
At Wednesday’s meeting, to be hosted by US Secretary of State John Kerry, President Karzai will hold talks with Pakistan’s army chief Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and other senior officials.
With Kabul- Islamabad ties under strain, Faizi on Monday accused Pakistan of failing to take practical steps to boost the Afghan-led peace process.
