President returns home from Brussels

KABUL and the US.

Karzai was accompanied by Foreign Minister Dr. Zalmai Rassoul, Minister of Defence General Bismillah Mohammadi, National Security Advisor Dr. Spanta, Chief of Staff to the President Abdul Karim Khurram and his spokesman Aimal Faizi.

In Brussels, the president met US Secretary of State John Kerry, who arranged trilateral talks, and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Gen. Parvez Kayani.

Kerry hailed the meeting as “productive” but hastened to add any results would have to be measured in terms of improved ties.

He told reporters: “We had a very extensive and … a very productive and constructive dialogue; we have all agreed that results are what will tell the story, not statements at a press conference.”

The meeting took place at the residence of the US ambassador to NATO at Truman Hall on the outskirts of Brussels the.  “Let’s hope for the best,” Karzai said.
