KABUL): The United Kingdom, promising to support five of the six confidence-building measures, has said these tracks of activity have the potential to build Afghan capacity significantly and to strengthen ties between neighbours.
Foreign Office Minister Baroness Warsi, according to a statement from the British embassy in Kabul, told the Almaty conference on Friday that promoting Afghanistan’s stability and prosperity was vital for its people.
The Istanbul Process was an important initiative, led by Afghanistan and the region and was supported by the global fraternity, Warsi added.
While expressing Britain’s active support for the initiative, Warsi said: “We are pleased that the Heart of Asia continues to develop and welcome the progress made here in Almaty today.”
