LASHKARGAH (PANinfo-icon): In response to Talibaninfo-icon’s spring offensive, the Public Order Police have launched nighttime operations in southern Helmand province, officials said on Tuesday.

Police were conducting the night operations with the cooperation of 404th Special Force, the commander of 7th police brigade, Col. Ghulam Sakhi Ghafoori, told a press conference in Lashkargah.

They have 340 equipped and trained Public Order Police personnel in the province to maintain security in six districts and on highways, he said.

Col. Ghafoori added the problems they face included lack of female policemen during the operations and deminers. But the problems would be resolved soon, he hoped.

They would assign two more battalions with maintaining security for Farah and Nimroz provinces, the official announced.
