KABUL): Four militants have been killed and two others wounded in clashes with security personnel in the southern province of Ghazni, officials said on Sunday.

At least two members of the US-supported Afghan Local Police (ALP) force were wounded in the overnight gun-battles in Andar and Qarabagh districts.

Provincial police chief, Zarawar Zahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News two fighters were killed in an hour-long firefight with ALP in the Sra Qala area of Andar district. One policeman was wounded.

In Qarabagh district, two rebels were killed and as many wounded during an ongoing operation in Niazi and Mirjan areas, said the town’s administrative head, Fazlur Rahman.

In northern Kunduz province, two women were killed by their husbands in Khanabad district and the killers managed to flee, said Women’s Affairs Director Nadira Gaya.

The victims were identified as Malika. 18, who got married 45 days ago, and Jamila. The latter married 13 years back but had no child, the official said.

Elsewhere in the north, three armed rebels were killed in the Qush Tepa district of Jawzjan province on Saturday evening, Deputy Governor Abdul Rahman Mahmoudi said. 

He added the fighters, including commanders Mullah Ansar and Mullah Fazal Ahmad, were killed during security operations. Another two guerrillas were injured.

In western Ghor province, a policeman was killed when a group of militants stormed his check-post in Chaghcharan, the provincial capital, on Saturday night, said the police chief, Col. Dilawar Shah.
