KABUL Under-19 squad bowled out Thailand for just 26 runs to register a thumping 395-run victory in the ACC Under-19 Elite Cup in Malaysia, an official said on Monday.
The Afghans, who chose to bat after winning the toss, piled up 421 runs in the stipulated 50 overs game, with Hashmatullah Shahid contributing an unbeaten 153 runs.
Farid Hotak, the Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Kabir Khan chipped in with 88 runs, Shahidullah 67, Munir Ahmad 31 and Nasir Ahmadzai 21.
Afghan bowlers proved too good for Thai batsmen who were bundled out for 26 — with Ziaur Rahman Akbar grabbing three wickets, Syed Sherzad two and Nasir Ahmadzai, Shahidullah and Javed sharing one wicket apiece.
In previous matches, Afghanistan thrashed Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Group-A matches. They will take on Hong Kong in their last match on Tuesday.
