LASHKARGAH (PAN): Up to 157 policemen completed a training course in southern Helmand province while 400 candidates appeared in a recruitment exam.
Of the 157 policemen, 130 were border policemen who received four-month training from Afghan and foreign mentors, the provincial police chief, Col. Abdul Nabi Ilham, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The could participate in operations with other security personnel in different parts of the province, said the head of the police training centre, Col. Abdul Mohammad Zafarkhel.
Nearly 400 school graduates from Helmand, Nimroz and Uruzgan provinces took a test for enrollment in the police academy, Col. Ilham said.
Fifty of the students would be enrolled in Kabul, he explained.
