Bannu suicide attack leaves 3 dead, 27 injured

ISLAMABAD (PANinfo-icon): As pre-poll violence in the country continues, three people were killed and 27 others injured in a suicide attack on a police station in northwestern Pakistaninfo-icon on Wednesday, officials said.

The bomber crashed his explosives-laden vehicle into a police station on the outskirts of Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bordering eastern Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Hospital sources in the area said two womeninfo-icon and a policeman were killed and 27 people, including 10 women and children, nine policemen and eight civilians, wounded in the assault.

As a result of the powerful explosion, the Domail police station and two nearby houses were razed, he said. Another 10 houses around the police facility were damaged and several inmates wounded, District Police Officer (DPO) Ghafoor Afridi told reporters

In the bloody run-up to the May 11 vote, more than 100 people have been killed and many others wounded in a string of attacks on politicians and their public meetings in a month in the nuclear-capable country.
