KABUL): A joint Afghan-US commission on implementation of the strategic partnership agreement is scheduled to meet in Kabul today (Saturday), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
At the meeting, Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul will head the Afghan delegation, while the American team will be led by Deputy Secretary of State William Joseph Burns, according to a brief statement from the ministry.
The joint commission, which was created last year for the enforcement of the strategic pact, held its inaugural meeting in Washington.
On Friday, Burns met the Indian foreign secretary in New Delhi on a host of issues, including Afghanistan. “We welcome the leading role India is playing in fostering regional economic integration and spurring private sector investment,” said a US statement.
