KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Four people were killed and two others wounded during a clash between illegal armed groups in northern Kunduz province, officials said on Saturday.
The clash erupted between supporters of four commanders in Janat Bagh and Bodin Khanabad area on Friday evening when a fighter belonging to the Abdul Khaliq was killed and two fighters of Syed Mohammad were injured, said the district chief, Hayatullah Amiri.
If such clashes erupt, people would be unable to harvest their wheat crops, feared a resident of the area, Noor Mohammad.
But another resident, Rahmatullah, said two people were killed and three others wounded in the clash.
Meanwhile, three people were killed during a separate firefight between fighters of Pir Mohammad and Qari Habib in the Kobayee area of the district.
A tribal elder from the area, Abdul Jabbar, urged the government to disarm both commanders for the sake of peace in the district.
Police spokesman, Syed Sarwar Hussaini, refused to comment on the issue.
