FAIZABAD (PAN for a decade after 2014, the deputy ambassador promised at an inaugural ceremony for three projects in northeastern Badakhshan province.

 A double-storey building for a high school, having 12 classrooms and a retaining wall were constructed over the past one year at a cost of $570,000 provided by the German government in Badakhshan, the school principal, Abdul Basir, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A newly constructed building for the Department of Economy was also inaugurated on Saturday at a cost of $250,000 with financial support from Germany, Director of Economic Affairs Abdul Ghafoor Farogh said.

Separately, another German-funded building for an agriculture’s northwestern valley of Chitral.

The two-storey building has nine classrooms, a laboratory, a library, a computer lab and other sections for animal husbandry, plant production and forestry, a statement from the German embassy said.

Deputy Ambassador Oliver Owcza said: “Our assistance will not end. We will continue helping this country in different sectors, including infrastructure development, beyond 2014.”

Most of German aid would be spent in Badakhshan, Balkh, Kunduz, Baghlan and Takhar provinces and 430 million euros would be spent each year in these provinces after 2014 for one decade, he concluded.
