LASHKARGAH (PAN): Around 4500 people completed vocational training courses in southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.

The UK-funded training programmes were implemented in the provincial capital and nine districts of Helmand, Governor Mohammad Naeem told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Eng. Mohammad Ashraf, director of the programme, said of the 16 vocational training centres functional across Helmand, five were exclusively for women.

Around 2,000 individuals, including 700 females, took part in the training programme in Lashkargah. Another 1,300 females and 1,200 males completed similar courses in the districts.

The participants were taught English language, computer science, tailoring and electronics skills, said Mohammad Nader Nawzadwal, director of labour and social affairs.

He promised the graduates would be offered jobs.
