Floods kill 2, wash away crops in Khost

KHOST CITY (PANinfo-icon): Two people were killed and thousands of acres of farmland destroyed by floods in southeast Khost province, an official said on Monday.

The Afghanistaninfo-icon Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) provincial head told Pajhwok Afghan News that a 10 years old girl and an elder man died in the flooding.

Mohammad Akbar confirmed thousands of acres of farmland had been washed away and many people affected by the rain-induced floods in Gurbaz, Tanai, Ismailkhel and Zazai Maidan districts.

Resident Nasimullah said heavy rains lashed a number of districts on Sunday night, with floodwaters damaging crops in several areas.
