Floods kill 2, wash away crops in Khost

KHOST CITY (PAN): Two people were killed and thousands of acres of farmland destroyed by floods in southeast Khost province, an official said on Monday.

The Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) provincial head told Pajhwok Afghan News that a 10 years old girl and an elder man died in the flooding.

Mohammad Akbar confirmed thousands of acres of farmland had been washed away and many people affected by the rain-induced floods in Gurbaz, Tanai, Ismailkhel and Zazai Maidan districts.

Resident Nasimullah said heavy rains lashed a number of districts on Sunday night, with floodwaters damaging crops in several areas.
