KABUL on Monday promised the remaining hostages would be freed soon.

Azra district’s administrative head Hamidullah Hamid said a day earlier the four men were transferred to Turkish authorities after their release in the Chatwak area of Khogyani district in eastern Nangarhar province.

On April 21, the Taliban kidnapped 10 foreigners, including the Turkish engineers, after a NATO-contracted Mi-8 helicopter made an emergency landing in the Mangal Pass area of Azra district.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid the Turks had been freed as a goodwill gesture and the rest would also be released soon. However, he said nothing about the fate of two pilots from Russia and Kyrgyzstan, as well as their Afghan interpreter.
