Rassoul, Bokova discuss Afghan culture heritage

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement said Rassoul appreciated UNESCO’s assistance with Afghanistan in areas of education and cultural with emphasize on continued aid.

The Foreign Minister briefed the UNESCO Director General in detail about Afghanistan’s history and its cultural heritage.

He stressed the country’s heritage sites needed special attention to be repaired for damages caused to them during three decades of war.

Bokova said she was satisfied with her trip to Afghanistan and meetings with Afghan officials. She said the UN was prepared to  help improve Afghanistan education and other sectors.

She acknowledged Afghanistan was a country rich of cultural heritage which needed more attention.

Bokova has so far met separately with President Karzai, ministers of Women, Information and Culture, Interior, Education, and a number of parliamentarians. She also visited the National Museum, Aisha -e-Durani High School, and Bamyan province.
