ISLAMABAD (PAN‘s northwestern city of Peshawar soon after Friday prayers, killing three people.
Police said the blast took place near a seminary on the Pajaggi Road in Faqirabad area, targeting the vehicle of Haji Hayatullah, a leader of Jamaatul Dawat Alquran and Alsunnah.
Hayatullah was not present in the vehicle when it was targeted, an eyewitness Wahidur Rehman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Deputy commissioner Peshawar Javed Marwat told reporters at the scene Hayatullah’s driver and a bodyguard were killed in the blast. Hayatullah is the nephew of Maulvi Jamilul Rehman, the founder of Afghan Jamaatul Dawaat.
Bomb disposal squad head Shafqat Malak said up to six kilograms of explosives were used in the blast that comprehensively destroyed the targeted vehicle and damaged walls of the seminary.
Doctors at the Lady Reading Hospital confirmed receiving three dead bodies at the hospital.
