SHARAN/LASHKARGAH (PAN): Two commanders were among 19 militants killed in separate security incidents in southern Helmand and southeastern Paktika provinces, officials said on Wednesday.
Two fighters were killed by the roadside bomb they were planting in the Marjani area of the Wazakhwa district in Paktika province, the governor’s spokesman, Mukhlis Afghan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Another 11 insurgents were killed during a clash after they attacked an Afghan Local Police (ALP) checkpoint in the Sarobi district of the province, Afghan said.
Three more Taliban’s Punjab province and one from the Waziristan tribal region — were killed in a separate gunbattle with police in Barmal district, he added.
Separately, two guerrillas were killed and three others detained in the Greshk district of Helmand province.
Five Kalashnikovs were recovered as a result of the clash that occurred on Tuesday evening in Spin Jumat area, said the district chief, Mohammad Fahim Musazai.
Meanwhile, two Taliban commanders were killed and their weapons and walkie-talkies sized during an operation by Afghan forces in the Dizor area of Musa Qala district, said the governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak.
