Taliban execute child killer in Herat

Jun 11, 2013 - 16:25

HERAT CITY (PANinfo-icon): The Talibaninfo-icon publicly hanged a fugitive in the kidnap-murder case of a nine-year-old boy, the son of an industrialist, in western Herat province, an official confirmed on Tuesday.

Kamal, who surrendered to the Taliban before police could arrest him, was put to death by the rebels, an official said on condition of anonymity. He added the execution was ordered by a Taliban court.

Police had arrested 21 individuals in the case. Two of them were executed last month in the central jail and the rest sentenced from six to 20 years in jail.

Ali Sena, the son of Nasir Noori, was kidnapped last year and killed a month later, despite the payment of ransom. The detainees include a former police chief of Injil district.

A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, acknowledged Kamal, the son of Abdul Ghafoor, was hanged in Pakhtun Zarghon district in front of a crowd a day earlier.
