MAIMANA (PAN): Eighteen people, including university students, were wounded when two gas cylinders exploded in a hostel of the Faryab University, officials said on Wednesday.
The incident took place at 12:30pm inside the hostel kitchen, injuring 16 students, a lecturer and a guard, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Javed Baidar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The injured were taken to Afghan-Turk Hospital. Two students were in critical condition, Public Health Director Dr. Abdul Ali Halim said.
The students were going to the kitchen for launch when the cylinders exploded, injuring those who were inside the hall, said Ihsanullah Sherzad, one of the boarders.
