KABUL): Eleven individuals were convicted on drug-trafficking charges and awarded different jail sentences by the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) on Monday.
Prison sentences from 12 to 18 years were awarded to the men from Helmand, Nangarhar, Baghlan, Daikundi and Laghman provinces by the appellant court.
CJTF spokesman Ahmad Khalid Mowahid told Pajhwok Afghan News police had detained the alleged traffickers with more than 40 kilograms of heroin, over 658 kg of opium and 594 kg of hashish.
The accused, having defence attorneys to plead their cases, were convicted at separate judicial trials based on evidence brought before the court under the counter-narcotics law.
