University teachers end classes boycott

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Kabul University teachers and students ended their month-long boycott of classes on Tuesday, warning of resuming protests if the higher educationinfo-icon minister was not fired.

During a meeting, they had presented to President Hamid Karzai their demands, including the minister’s removal before the advent of Ramadaninfo-icon. Karzai had promised to meet their demand, they said.

For the sake of a propitious learning environmentinfo-icon on the campus, the teachers and students also insisted on the reinstatement of Farooq Abdullah, the social sciences faculty director, and lecturer Faisal Amin.
