KABUL): Soybean seeds would be freely distributed to farmers in northern Kunduz province to deal with the problem of malnutrition among children, officials said on Friday.
In addition to good income for growers, the distribution of soybean seeds — provided by an NGO called Nutrition & Education International (NEI), — would resolve the malnutrition problems.
Agriculture Sahib, Aliabad and Khanabad districts. Growers from other districts would also get the seeds soon.
Nearly 80 interested farmers were being trained on crop cultivation practices, the director said, hoping growers would benefit from the NEI support.
A farmer from Khanabad, Imaduddin, said he had received 10 kilograms of soybean seeds from the NGO and wanted to grow the crop on 500 square metres of land. If the crop gives an encouraging yield, he would grow soybean on all his land.
