JALALABAD (PAN): A would-be suicide bomber was detained before he could reach his target in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
The arrest came in the Farm Hada area late on Sunday after the attacker opened fire at police in a bid to enter Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
Police spokesman, Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, told Pajhwok Afghan News the suicide attacker was wounded in return fire before being arrested.
“An explosive vest, hand grenades and a Kalashnikov were seized from the detainee,” said Mashriqiwal, who claimed the attacker wanted to target government offices in Jalalabad.
