Noted civil society leader dies in accident

KABUL leader Dr. Saeed Niazi, who died in a road accident on Thursday evening, is being held in Kabul later on Friday.

“We are extremely shocked and saddened by the passing away of Dr. Saeed Niazi, director of Civil Society Development Centre,” the executive director of the Afghan Civil Society Forum said.

Eng. Aziz Rafiee told Pajhwok Afghan News Dr. Niazi would be laid to rest at the Punj Sad graveyard in the capital. “Really sad news, Dr. Saeed Niazi is no longer with us,” he said.

The car accident took place in the Tangi Abresham area on the Jalalabad-Kabul road. He was driving alone and his car fell in the river in the wake of the accident.  He was taken out and evacuated to hospital, where he died.
