CHARIKAR): Two policemen were killed when they opened fire at each other after a verbal clash in central Parwan province, while a third policeman was killed in northwestern Faryab province, officials said on Sunday.

The trade fire between two policemen took place at a check post inside the Bagram airfield on Sunday morning, the Bagram district chief, Abdul Shakoor Qudosi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Both were killed after they shot each other, Qudosi said, adding the reason remained unclear, but an investigation was underway.

In Faryab, a policeman and a rebel were killed during separate incidents on Sunday. There was a clash between police and armed insurgents in the Tomis area of Qaisar district in the morning, the district chief, Abdul Jamil Sadiqi, said.

One insurgent was killed and three others were wounded during the clash that also left two policemen injured, he said.

Elsewhere in the district, a police officer was killed when the Taliban attacked a police post in the Shakh bazaar.

In central Bamyan province, a Taliban-designated district chief has joined the peace process.

Mullah Wali, the Taliban’s district chief for Shibar district along with one of his accomplice had surrendered themselves to the authorities, confirmed the Shibar district chief, Mohammad Azim Farid. He said Wali joined the peace process under pressure from security forces.
