ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that winning the ongoing war against terrorism was vital to Pakistan’s stability and prosperity.
Sharif underlined the necessity during a briefing at the Interior Ministry in Islamabad. He was updated on national security and the law and order situation in the country.
The prime minister directed ministry officials to strengthen intelligence sharing with provinces, which must be stoutly supported in improving the security environment.
A day earlier, Sharif paid a visit to the Inter-Services Intelligence headquarters in the Rawalpindi for consultations on the national security strategy being prepared by the government.
He was accompanied by Foreign Affairs and National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
They stayed at the ISI offices for five hours. Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and ISI Director General Lt. Gen. Zaheerul Islam received Sharif and his cabinet colleagues.
