33 inmates freed from Kunar prison

ASADABAD (PAN): Thirty-three prisoners were freed and the jail terms of three others reduced in eastern Kunar province on Wednesday in compliance with President Hamid Karzai’s decree, officials said.

The inmates were freed in accordance with the presidential orders on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, said the head of a delegation tasked with implementation of the decree, Qazi Abdul Ghaffar.

Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, Deputy Governor Mohammad Nabi Ahmadzai asked the beneficiaries to respect to rule of law and shun violence against ordinary people.
