KABUL guerrillas were killed and six others detained as a result of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Friday.
Afghan police, army and intelligence personnel conducted the clearing operations in Baghlan, Kunduz, Balkh, Kandahar, Logar and Helmand provinces. At least five militants were wounded.
A statement from MoI said the operations were aimed to clear the areas of insurgents. Weapons and ammunitions, including 49 landmines, were seized by the security personnel.
Police discovered and defused two roadside bombs in the Khogyani district of eastern Kandahar province, the ministry said, blaming the Taliban for planting the explosive devices.
