SHARAN/FARAH CITY (PAN): Five civilians have been killed and four others wounded during separate bomb explosions, authorities said on Friday.
One of the blasts occurred inside the house of a militant named Abdullah in the Matta Khan district of southeastern Paktika province on Thursday evening.
The explosion left dead three children and two women of Abdullah’s family, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Dawlat Khan Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the children played with the explosive device that went off as a result of a short circuit. The insurgents allegedly made and kept bombs inside the house in Foladkhel area.
In other news, three people were wounded during a blast in front of a mosque in the capital of western Farah province on Friday.
Farah Civil Hospital Director Dr. Abdul Hakim Rasuli confirmed receiving three wounded individuals from the explosion scene.
Giving a witness account, resident Abdul Qayyum said the blast happened at 8am when a police pick-up was passing through the area. Moments later, another bomb was defused, he claimed.
