KABUL fighters have been killed during security incidents in three provinces, officials said on Saturday.

Several others, including militants and security men, were wounded during the incidents that took place in Nangarhar, Kandahar and Farah provinces over the past 24 hours, security officials said.

In Nangarhar, six insurgents were killed, a seventh detained and two security personnel sustained slight injuries during a clash in the Batikot district, a spokesman for the 201st Selab Military Corps said.

Sherin Agha told Pajhwok Afghan News two motorcycles, two AK-47s as many landmines and some explosives were also seized by security forces at the clash site.

In Helmand, six Taliban fighters were killed and nearly a dozen others wounded during an operation in the Sangin district, the 215th Maiwand Military Corps spokesman said. Col. Rassoul Zazai said the insurgents killed included two commanders.

In Farah, three militants were killed in a blast caused by their own bomb in the Khak-i-Safed district, the district chief said.

Abdul Khaliq Nawrozi added the explosion took place late on Friday night when the three were planning a roadside bomb in the Hajji Kalai area.

Another two rebels were killed and four others injured after they were ambushed by Afghan security forces in a valley between the Zherai and Khakrez districts, the Governor’s Office said.
